That humble man, is Alessandro (Alex) Zanardi ? If
you have not heard his name on TV or the internet yet, BMW of Roxbury is very confident that you will, soon.
Alex's life changed dramatically in 2001 a horrific crash on the race track caused him to have both legs amputated above the knee. Alex, however, was unable to stay away from the tack, and was back behind the wheel of a BMW Team Italy-Spain's vehicle just two short years following his operation.
After another six successful years with Team Italy-Spain, he decided to drop a wheel. By that, we mean he
took up handbiking. An incredibly rigorous sport, handbiking involves a
three-wheeled bike operated by arms rather than legs. This is a sport that requires a significant amount of upper body strength and stamina.
Taking his new racing career just as seriously as
his old one, he will be competing in the summer Paralymics. BMW of Roxbury is excited to cheer Alex on this summer as he goes for the gold! As seen in a new video produced
by BMW, he has great character and immense wisdom to share. These are two of the many reasons we are pushing for him to win the gold.
If you haven't watched the video yet, we highly
recommend you check it out on YouTube. It takes just about two minutes to
watch. We are willing to bet that you will take a few extra minutes following the video to email it to all of your friends, post to Facebook and Twitter.
