The day BMW enthusiasts knew was coming is here. The luxury automaker is bringing its fierce hybrid technology found in the 5 Series and 7 Series to its cornerstone 3 Series. And, judging by what BMW of Roxbury is  hearing from new BMW buyers as well as BMW service center patrons - people can hardly wait. We're writing today to tell you that the all-new BMW ActiveHybrid 3 is expected to hit our showroom floors sometime this fall.

Behind the stealth-looking body, people already fawn over the 3 Series sedan for, drivers will find the forthcoming 2013 BMW ActiveHybrid 3 fully outfitted with the same award-winning safety, comfort, and convenience found in its older sibling. A few favorites that come to mind include: full-color HUD, comfort access, parking assist, Harmon Kardon Surround Sound, speed limit information, Surround View, BMW Assist with BLUETOOTH, and dynamic stability control.

Beneath the hood, you'll find a powerplant that is at once mean and friendly. Its aggressiveness comes from BMW's all-powerful TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter incline 6-cylinder, 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission mated to a pure electric motor (powered by a high-voltage battery). When all is said and done, this dynamic trio equates to 13-percent more horsepower than the standard BMW 3 Series sedan and 11-percent more torque.  In terms of total numbers, this translates to a total of 335 hp and 332 lb.-ft. respectively.

Where does the "'friendly" part come in?

While there will be times when you want to fully exercise all 335 ponies of power, there will also be days when you're driving in the city or suburbs,  going 45 mph or under. That's when you can employ solely the electric motor to operate the car. This reduces fuel consumption and emissions down to zero.
